Website Traffic Stagnant? Get A Blog

If your website is done and looking fabulous, you may get some great search engine hits. But your search engine optimization efforts are not done yet! They’ll never be done if you want to continue to experience growth.

SEO isn’t evergreen. In order to get traffic and keep it coming, you need to update your site often.  If you don’t continue to update, the search engines will stop visiting and you’ll lose your page rankings.  How do you keep your site fresh? A blog is a great way to do this.

Adding a blog to your website can help you optimise for SEO with all the big search engines.  Your main site copy stays static but the blog is constantly updated with related words and phrases in your niche which is a key factor in keeping your traffic levels up.

Get Two Types of Traffic: The Two Legged and The Eight Legged Kinds

Eight legged traffic is great because that’s the search engines deciding you’re relevant. Two legged traffic is good too and will happen naturally because of those spider visitors. Not only can you get search engine spiders visiting you but you can also get people visiting you as well. Those people may just buy something from you.

Blogging Tips

Make your blog interesting and interactive and update it often. Write keyword rich content and make it interesting! Add RSS so people can subscribe and monetize it as well if you like but be careful about your advertisements as they could simply take people away from your site instead of convincing them that you have what they need on your main site.

LSI & The Long Tail

List your company home page  in your blogroll and optimize your content for search engines by using LSI writing, Long Tail keywords and linking in the blog to other areas of your site as well.

Each time you update your blog, the search engines will be prompted to visit you and index you for more of your keywords and targeted phrases. Don’t forget to do some social bookmarking and social networking as well in order to get more traffic to the blog which will make it go viral.

Make Your Blog Count!

Write good content. I know I’ve said that twice already but it bears repeating! If you don’t know what to write about or don’t have time to do the writing, hire an SEO writer  (like me!) who specialises in LSI, SEO writing and blogging.

Great advice! Gone are the days when businesses could put up a brochure-style site of a few pages and expect any sort of traffic that way. 🙂
